I am getting more and more pissed off that illegal aliens can easily get college degrees.

IMO that needs to change if the school gets any kind of federal government funding.

I agree. Any kind of government funding, IMHO, not just federal.

Yes, I wrote federal so I didn't have to hear about how the states can't enforce immigration law, but I don't think "if you don't have the right paperwork, we won't admit you" really falls under enforcement, it's just basic admission standards.

Well then should states not have to educate illegal immigrant children. I'm sure most people wouldn't mind, but right now they do and its hella expensive.

A lot of states just feel like if they have already spent thousands and thousands of dollars educating you they would at least like you to be able to contribute back taxes.

I think basic schooling is different from college - college is a choice and a privilege.

It is very easy to confirm someone's immigration status as part of the normal college admissions process. Plus there are limited times when someone can enroll or transfer in.

Any university that is dumb enough to enroll an illegal alien, pay for part of their schooling, and then want them made a citizen so they can get some of it back as "taxes" is Dumbarse U and has much bigger problems.

"I find all of these proposals to be very distasteful and racially & economically motivated."
-Scooterbug44 referring to the proposed Florida law which is similar to the controversial Arizona law.

Apparently, you don't want state enforcement of immigration laws. But that is what a university confirming one's immigration status is.

It's actually illegal for a public university to inquire or enforce immigration law as they are an extension of the state government. So, unless you equate easy with impossible, I would say that statement is false.

Checking someone's immigration status just because you think they look like an illegal alien is quite different from a college checking to make sure an college applicant has meet all of their admissions criteria.

I am not saying the college should report the applicant, just that if you cannot provide the necessary documentation for enrollment you don't get into that school - same as if you don't provide your transcript or SAT scores, or mail the application late.

Right here!
My argument is not that he shouldn't follow the rules, he definitely should. People who don't follow the rules should be punished.

I just think the rules should be changed.

Well if he's as smart as he seems, it should be easy for him to get a job and a work visa. From there he can apply for a green card and ultimately apply for citizenship.

Why go through all that hassle only to have my money taxed? If I register then they will charge me for hospital visits too.

You really think legislators should be focusing time and money on an issue that does not affect 99.9% of the students?

Sorry, but if you can't get into Georgia Perimeter College, it isn't because droves of illegal aliens took the available places. It means you couldn't meet the high academic standards of an institution that accepts a D grade for transfer credits.

You have to start somewhere and take a stand...if you keep "overlooking" and ignoring the little things then pretty soon the problem is much bigger and almost impossible to correct. Our Government officials have allowed our country to be over run with illegals and we ALL are now paying the price.

As for your college quip..Fall 2009 enrollment 24,549, out of that number there were 17,415 that were minority, with 3,866 of those students coming from foreign countries. The average age of students was 24 years old. With those numbers in mind...those that fall into the minority or foreign student class seemed to have a better chance to enroll than others...and they were also the group that received most of the financial aid and scholarships. I am still searching for your source of info about accepting D's for credit...
