1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Egg nog with lots of rum! No wait...hot chocolate with baileys!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Wraps.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? White.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Thanksgiving weekend.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Cornbread dressing.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? My mother was a wonderful interior decorator and we always had several trees with different themes in each room and I will never forget the day she came home with the silver aliminum tree with the color wheel for the big bay window and my grandparents about passed out. This was not their idea of Christmas. Yes, she got to keep her tree and each year we changed the color of the balls. Green, Red, Blue, Gold, Purple whatever the theme of the room was that year. I still want one of those trees.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I was raised with my uncle who is three years older than I, he made me get up late one Christmas Eve and sneak down to the den (where we opened the presents) and we saw my Mom putting goodies in our stockings.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Christmas Eve with FFF's family. Christmas Day at my side of the family. FFF and I open ours alone on Christmas night.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? A horseman baby doll when I was about 4 that I carried everywhere for many years.....I do mean EVERYWHERE. I grew up with a place at the beach and one year we got almost to Montgomery (we lived about 45 minutes from Birmingham) and we realized that Meka was left behind, needless to say.....we turned around.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Family and friends. That special feeling of the Holidays.

Wraps

No

5. When do you put your decorations up?

After Thanksgiving

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

Breakfast casserole - I don't know why it only gets made during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I also like pumpkin or sweet potato bisque.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?

Hearing Santa, Rudolph and the reindeers land on our roof - don't ask me what really happened but I heard bells!

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

I think it was an older kid when I was in second grade!:bang:

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

Yes. I got the best present ever on Christmas Eve in Seaside 9 years ago, although I didn't know it at the time. I opened the book Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul (which I did not ask for) from my husband. I wasn't thrilled, it wasn't on my book list (and I am a big reader!) The next day I woke up feeling pregnant - Christmas Day! I had to wait the following day to go to the drug store to get an ept test, which we were on our way to Sanibel Island, so I couldn't take until I got to the hotel. I was pregnant! We had not been trying and we went past my cut off date of 40 years. But here's the weird part. I skimmed the book, read a few stories but not all. I was bored a few months ago, picked it up and read it from cover to cover. In the book, there is a story about a women who couldn't conceive and had given up and found a new bootie in her car. She found out she was pregnant a short time later. People had prayed for her and her ability to conceive. I had experienced several miscarriages, had gone beyond the even higher risk age category and gave up. After reading her story, that book was meant for me to read and am thankful my husband gave it to me!

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?

We make a family night of it, with each person putting their favorite ornaments on. We have a Christmas train too that goes around the tree.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?

Like looking at the first snow and that's about it! I moved south to get away from driving in it!

12. Can you ice skate?

Enough to not fall.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

See #9

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? I love to go to Christmas Eve Service at church, being with family and friends and I like the moment right before the kids get up, I like to have a cup of coffee and look at the tree before chaos happens!

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?

Pecan pie with Coffee!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Doing a popcorn Christmas puzzle! I usually hate puzzles but each year we get one of those popcorn tins that have a puzzle on top, and take turns finding the pieces.

When I lived in Michigan, we always went to my Aunt and Uncle's house the first week of December and had a huge party for all the grandkids. There were several families with many grandkids, Santa would come up the front walk and deliver presents to all the grandkids. My Aunt made sure there was a present for everyone - with their name on it! Santa was their employee and I think it was his favorite part of his job!

17. What tops your tree?

An angel

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving?

Both!

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Not sure, I like a lot of the songs.

20. Candy Canes?

Not very much

I am surprised at the No's for mistletoe, I will use any excuse to get kisses.

Mistletoe grows very high up in large trees and is very hard to get to, hence the shooting it out of trees, which we did and still do. I am a very good shot.

I never knew this and I think I learned it last year when someone was talking about it here. Sounds like a great tradition.

OL, here is an example. In trees such as oak and maple, it grows up high, the preferred tree is something like an apple that is more accessible.

Here you go BB, just a click away.:D

http://yuletideexpressions.com/

I want one of those so bad! I'm not sure where I would put it.....it really does not matter, I'd love it anywhere. I remember helping pull the limbs out of the paper sleeves like it was yesterday.

BB, I would love to see pictures of your beachy tree!

I'll try to post some after this week. It has gotten so full of ornaments I'm afraid the tree is going to fall over.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? neither

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? It depends on the house to which he is delivering.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? lights? maybe one day. Tree? hate to chop them down except for firewood.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? There is plenty hanging around the pecan trees on the way to Alabama, already hung nice and pretty.

5. When do you put your decorations up? decorations? Now days, I just like to enjoy everyone else's. Cleaning up is much easier that way.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? I guess I like the wine glass the best, because it is really good for drinking wine.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? seeing Santa's footprints on the back of the fireplace.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? What, the part about him wrecking the sleigh one Christmas night when he drank too much egg nog, losing all of the presents in the crash?

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? I like to open all of my presents on Christmas Eve. It is one way I try to work on changing my ways with procrastination. I've been doing it ever since I stopped living with mom and dad. That leaves all day on Christmas for playing with my toys.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? See answer to question #3

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? that's a good one. Funny.

12. Can you ice skate? not on beach sand

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? go-cart
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? sippin on a glass of wine watching people freak out about not having their gifts bought yet.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? I like cheese and sausage balls. Do they count as dessert? Christmas is the only time of the year when I get to eat them. Who's making them for me this year?

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? I've been enjoying eating Christmas with the Steele/Saunders families the last few years.

17. What tops your tree? back to #3

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? receiving is too difficult, but I will promise to work on it.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Deck the Halls comes to mind, but there are many good ones. What is that one about conspiring by the fire? I wonder what they were conspiring about.:dunno:

20. Candy Canes? they take too long to eat. see photo below.
