I do love a vodka martini....pretty much just vodka and olives! (blue cheese stuffed olives) Yum Yum! I don't care if it's not a real martini, it simply brings a big smile to my face!

I like Kettle One. Recently have adapted to the Kirkland brand of vodka (sold at selected Costco stores). It won in a local blind taste test. Not bad.

Now wishing I had a martini tonight!

I know gin is "correct," but why break my streak! :D

Love a vodka martini - extra dirty, appletini, pomtini, depending on mood.

Gin makes me feel like I am drinking something from a still and does not result in good behavior - though good stories.

Never had a real martini in my life but my mother used to say that the way you make a dry martini is to put gin in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake well and look at the Vermouth bottle. Strain into a martini glass and add olives. I guess just because it is in a martini glass doesn't make it a real martini. I don't get the dirty martini thing. Someone I know likes a sour pickle martini!

My opinion your mother had it right. Dry martini. Shaken so much when you pour it it leave an icy film at the top. 2 olives and server. Ive always used Bombay Sapphire for martini. Gordons for Gin and tonic.

Have any of you Gin drinkers tried New Amsterdam Gin. I tried it a few months ago and love it. Its about a buck or 2 more than Gordons and tastes great.

Tito's vodka- made in Austin. Can't stand the smell of gin. Skip the whole martini thing- my drink of choice since college has been vodka and water.

I love Tito's vodka!

For martinis, I prefer Sapphire, icy film and extra special dirty.
