Another trick is to buy cheap ass Vodka and then run it through a Brita pitcher twice. You won't be able to tell the difference between the crap and the expensive stuff except for the extra money in your wallet.

I knew I'd been saving those Grey Goose, Ketel 1 and Belvedere bottles for something.

And I knew I'd bought that darn Brita water pitcher for somethin'...:D

The first trick to a proper martini, regardless of Vodka or Gin, is to not freeze or refrigerate the liquor. This goes with all liquor. Most drinks, especially martini's, were created using room temperature liquor. This allows the proper amount of ice to melt into the liquor. If you notice bars don't keep their liquor in the freezer. ;-)

EXCELLENT tip about the filter SWGB!!

At one time or another (hey I'm seasonal) I enjoy almost anything EXCEPT gin (and scotch). Another thing I've learned after years of extensive consumption... it's an utter waste to go for 'fine' stuff if you're going to mix with anything sweet and/or carbonated. Crown & Coke baffles me... such a waste of good whiskey; like covering Marilyn Monroe up in a Frankenstein costume... a masking of innate beauty!
