Just pretend that you are a snowbird. Those people swim in the Gulf in January, with big smiles on there faces. I love that their glass is always half full, not empty, and they enjoy being here no matter what the weather or water temperature.
In the summer, the snowbirds' glasses are half empty. They cannot take the heat.

JB, LadyD and all others on the way, I swam for about 30 minutes today. The Gulf was a little chilly so I waited in the sun for about an hour before I attempted it. Then I just went full blast in to the surf;it was chilly for about 20 seconds then it felt great. I didn't even have any liquid courage. You all will be fine. By the way, the water was gorgeous today:cool:

Awesome swimming !! No sharks ot jellyfish today, but a really cool eel. The beach "neighbors" scooped him up in a net and used him for bait.

Wondering how the air temps are right now also. My husband is regretting now that we changed from the end of August to May, at least early May. We like to deck sit at night and it will probably be too cool.

I've been coming down during the same time in May for more than 10 years. Can't say the water has ever been too cold to swim. Even during years when it's below 75F, your body acclimates pretty quickly. I very much prefer cooler water to the 90-degree bathwater that comes in August (although around 80F
is optimimum for me).

Do let us know about the temp. St. Andrews in the Panama City Beach area is really beautiful. What all do they have going on this year? Where did you go and what exactly did you do (that you can tell us about)?

This was our second time to dive the St. Andrew Jetties, you must do it before High tide. You gear up then go through the kiddie pool and there is an opening that you go over the rocks, and turn left. It is about 40' deep, there. We had a great dive there, water vis was about 20 to 30 feet at that point. Saw lots of marine life. We made two long passes on one tank.

The dive shop told us the water temp was around 73, was a little cool at first but felt great after you have to walk down with all that gear on plus a five mm wet suit.

Got back into Seagrove about 2:30, had a Grouper po boy at the Market, then went to enjoy the rest of the day at the beach. It was a crystal clear day, nice breeze. Stayed there till the sun went down!
