My older sister (by 10 years) was/is a HUGE Elvis fan, so I was raised knowing he WAS the King of Rock and Roll. She took me to evey Elvis concert within a days drive and we saw him at the International Hotel in Las Vegas several times. Some way, some how, we always ended up on the front row and have several scarves and guitar picks. There were always parties after the show was over in whatever hotel Elvis was staying, and after attending SO MANY concerts the Memphis Mafia actually knew us and would invite us to the parties. We always went hoping Elvis would be there, unfortunately I never got to meet him, but did meet his dad, Vernon, all the guys in the band....Charlie Hodge was a sweetheart....he's the one you see that always puts the scarves around Elvis' neck, The Stamps were his back up singers as were the Sweet Inspirations and Cathie Westmoreland....The Stamps continued to tour and sing Gospel music after Elvis' death.
Wow, just realized, I think I must have been brainwashed.....
My sister and I got "escorted" out of the depths of the Astrodome as we were on our normal Elvis Hunt prior to his performance at the Rodeo and Livestock Show. I use the word "escorted" as I feel it unladylike to be THROWN out of an arena, which we were
