Right now I'm cooking a meal that has become our Halloween tradition (along with the guns) - "Paul Prudhomme's Mandeville Mardi Gras Chili." I don't make it for Mardi Gras - I do his red beans and rice recipe on that day. Tangentially it's the first time I've cooked it on my new Wolf gas cooktop. Everything cooks so incredibly much better than on my old electric cooktop.
Man, BR- you have my stove! You are right- nothing like cookin' ON gas!
We just finished carving the pumpkins- a chore I hate almost as much as bra shopping and dog poop cleanup. Knives, kids, and an artistic husband make me a nervous wreck. I just hovered around the perimeter of the action ready to call 911, and overpruned half of my shrubs 'cause I wasn't paying attention.

Did you see The Today Show yesterday? There was a guy on there demonstrating how easy it is the carve an intricate design on a pumpkin - NOT! I thought that both Campbell and Lester were going to take off a finger (or a hand - EWWWWW!).jdarg said:

That was sweet of you, destindreamin, to post the pumpkin carving thingie! Much easier than doing the real thing.
BR, you must not enjoy cooking very much if you've only just gotten arond to buying a gas range! I've been cooking on a big Thermador for half my life now. There is absolutely no comparison between gas and electric if you do more than boil an egg. I hope your Wolf opens up a new world of culinary delight to you--you've been missing an awful lot!
