I have trouble with rural, too. And Hurlburt, the air force place near here.

For some reason, I can't say "our." It comes out "ahr." Unless I stop and think about saying it like "hour."

My brother, who learned to read almost before he learned to talk, initially pronounced hurricanes as "hurr-rick-can-knees." We were not having a lot of them back then, I guess.

Fuzz calls the device in the sink that our scraps go into the "disposler."

But the prizewinner...15 or so years ago, the SO used to have a dispatcher that could not, for the life of her, say "Buick." So the deputies would purposely call in tag numbers on Buicks...:rotfl:but it was all in good funn!

Reminds me of Jenna on "30 Rock" starring in a movie called The Rural Juror. No one could understand her when she told them title of her movie.

There are no certain words that I have trouble with, but my friend Erin has trouble with "cinnamon," "aluminum," and "moose."

OMG! I'd never get that out.

quick poll....i say the word "folk" like foke...silent "l"...Po Fokes...for example... Mrs. Hop says foLks....any comments?:dunno:

Just us folks here.

How much Alkehall have you had tonight? hmmm?

I am working on a huge project at work. I am doing some Automated Computer training for an Army program that is used all over the world by Army pilots/soldiers. As some of you know I am an Alabama country girl with the twang to go with it. Anway, with this project I have to record me telling them what to click on, what to type and so on...the guy that is working with me keeps telling me "Oh, my, they are going to love your voice". Of course, I hate to hear myself because I feel like I sound like I am right out of the backwoods of Alabama. There are so many words that are hard for me to pronounce in this training, but I just give it some twang, and he says "that will be just fine". I will be glad when it is over!!!!

I bet you sound wonderful on it KDW, those pilots and soldiers will love it.

Hurlburt is hard for me to say too.

Now I'm wondering how she pronounced "Buick."

When I was little I had a "cheerful tearful" doll and that was always hard for me to say....still is.

Not sure about up north and in other parts of the country, but here in the south I've always got tickled at the older population that says "Hawaryee" for Hawaii and some how put an "R" in Chicago, pronouncing it ChicaRgo. :dunno:

Well Norfolk is not pronounced "folk" with an "L",
but I can't spell out how it is supposed to be spelled
or I'll get censored.

Last night, stone cold sober, I couldn't say "economists" to save my life.
It kept coming out 'economexist', 'economassist', 'economasses'.

Heck now I can't say it this morning either.
Too much Bailey's in my coffee.

As if.

Whatever.

I have trouble with "Swarovoski" and I should know how to pronounce it since they are my "sparkle" of choice.

I have trouble with cordonned and concereige (did I even spell it right?), too.

And we don't EVEN need to start with what Mr Seagrover has trouble with saying - ok, we can............

Yiannis was Yiammies,

Anyone else want to contribute on Mr Seagrover?
