But (assuming you have to fly a lot for your job and use Amex for your tix) make sure you check your American Express points before you spend money on a camera or any electronics. That's how we got all of the TVs and other electronics at our beach house. We had never used the points much before that. Saved us a boatload of money (that we didn't have after building a house and furnishing it - most of you owners in SoWal can relate to that!).

Hey everyone, the original post asked about a great camera for 350.00. You can get a cheap 4-5 megapixel pocket point and shoot for 100-150 bucks now. The guys at the camera store know what great glass the Panasonic has. It's too big for a snapshot platform though, so if you are after portability, choose any small Canon w/ a second generation image processor.

Now I am in Camera buying hell! I've fallen in love with an SLR, and I barely even know what that means :roll:

I stopped into a Ritz Camera after researching on Cnet (thanks for that site!) and I've fallen in love with the Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D, and in the process, almost tripled my original cap of $350. I can't help myself, the term
"anti-shake system" is just totally sucking me in.

I know this is foolish. Even though we have kids, I would say that 90% of my photos involve my dog in some way.......

And I KNOW I'm not alone in this
