That charger will flat get it! Haven't seen performance like that in a mid-price production car since 340 'cuda in early '70s. For that matter, that funky magnum (with the 5.7L) will slap you back in the seat pretty well too...

Katie,
I had two mustangs over the years an 82 and a 94 loved them both - bought both new and put 150K miles on each engine before I sold it - the 94 is still running good at 180K (sold to a friend). But that was the old 302 w/a stick. Don't know about the new engines they are using now. But I wasn't gentle with the old one and it took it. The only thing I don't like about the new mustang is that they seem to be everywhere. Eveyone is driving one.

My old 289 works just fine in my Mustang, and sounds even meaner than it looks.

I wish I could, but in order to keep the rust out of Sally, I keep her in Georgia. I don't have the guts to bring her down here. It is really a shame to keep her all locked up and protected, but she is no 'ole daily driver. I probably have a photo or two of her under-the-hood good looks. She is back to factory original parts and color codes under the hood, except for the spark plug wires, which the squirrels or mice were eating for a while. If you like my car, you should see some of my dad's old Ford / Shelby muscle cars. Vrrrrooomm, Vrrrooomm!

That always was a pretty good motor, and in a light body mootang, moves right along. First motor I ever tore completely apart & rebuilt (ahhh, fond greasy memories ;-)) - sad thing was, that particular motor came in a "Comet" wrapper :sosad:

Vrrrrooomm, Vrrrooomm!

My daughter and I are Mustang nuts.

My first was a..

'69 351 Mach I which I sold for

a '70 Boss 302 (grabber orange), and also I bought a used

a '69 Boss 302 which we raced and later sold to my brother-in-law.

Unfortunately, the 70's were a Mustang wasteland and I just watched sadly as the marque became more and more emasculated. Fortunately, the 1980's revieved the 302 block and we got a

1981 GT, then a

1986 2.5 litre turbocharged SVO for me, and a

1987 302 GT for my daughter.

Our last Mustang was a '96 GT which my daughter drove for 80K miles until 2002.

The new 'Stangs really do re-capture the look, feel, sound, and performance of the 1960's. And the new Charger RT makes you want to run out and buy the Bullitt DVD for the Mustang-Dodge chase. Great cars both.

As for the Charger, if they'd extended the front end a little longer they might have captured it more, for me. The engine is so powerful, I just feel they could have gone one step further with the style, too. (gotta love those curved windows though, and it sure is better looking than most.)

My first car was a yellow '67 Mustang Fastback. Manual transmission - only nerds had automatic back then. The first day I had it was the day of the family Christmas party. While our parents were partying, about 20 cousins and I piled in and took it out for a spin on 166 in ATL (not open yet) and cranked it up to about 120 mph. I'M STILL ALIVE!

 Beach Runner!!!

Speed was never much my thing--I had a nice little 225 Slant 6, maybe 100 HP? It would spin out if I went too fast (ended up backwards on the highway twice in it!) But I found other ways to be stupid. It's amazing the things we did in cars when we were 16 and immortal. Jeez, once or twice when I was that age I drove on the wrong side of the road, with my lights out, around the windy blind curves around Chastain Park in Atl. Just to tempt fate. Should have been grounded for life! Luckily, I was much less crazy by 17.

"Gimme five, we're still alive!"
