The one thing you'll never hear me complain about is "paying for electricity".

I've been without it from time to time (power surges, hurricanes, and storms), it sucks!

I will happily pay my bill each month to have the comfort no matter how much it is!

Mine also went up this month and the payment has been mailed! ;-)

Mine took a jump last month too. Roughly $100 more than this time last year.

It's not quite as high this month, but still more than I'd like.

Of course, I have to have my a/c. That's not negotiable.

Chelco is more expensive than Georgia Power right now, but GA Power just had a major increase. I'd love to see Y'all's power bills in Atlanta as opposed to SRB as I presume Atlanta Bo is talking about Atlanta? Who knows, I could be wrong~~~~~~~~~maybe Atlanta Bo lives in SRB.

Does Chelco get its power from Southern Co.? That might explain the increase down there.

Turning of ac is not good to do

turn it up yeah. It will take a lot to cool it back down. Alolso so many things now take ele even if you are not useing them chargers, tv's steros, dvd players computers and more. Unplug them. Gulf power had 2 rate hikes one oct 1 o8 and another jan 09 just a few months later. I dont get where they allow these kinds of rate hikes so clothes. Those hikes were a totally of 30. No pay rasises and everything is going up and food is due to go up 38% in the next few months. Plus blue cross has a rate hike starting Oct 1 of 22% for those that have that. And again no pay increases for many.:dunno:

perhaps we should all save on elect by turning lights off when not being used and turning a/c off when noones home. ive done all and more and my bills are much less. and the more people move here the more chelco will have to invest and the more we'll have to pay.

they may say they support renewables but do they give use any incentive? no they make it more difficult to put in renewables. Im sure they have some special requirements for protection equiptment to protect the grid that will make it almost impossible to upgrade to wind power. They dont want it and dont do anything to promote it. What a non freindly member owned co-op

Chelco may be member owned, but you'd never know. Did you know we are paying for 4 CEO salaried president, vice president's? Concerning the extra fuel cost, who thought it was prudent to buy all that fuel when the prices were the highest? I think the higher ups sit in an ivory tower and are completely oblivious to what's going on in Walton County. I was told by a board member, that even if you get elected to the board, you can't do anything. The annual meetings are not member friendly, they used to have a annual shin dig at Camp Timpochee, raffle, fish fry, live music, trustees politicing... If you start up a petition, you have to get about 4000 signatures.
