perhaps we should all save on elect by turning lights off when not being used and turning a/c off when noones home. ive done all and more and my bills are much less. and the more people move here the more chelco will have to invest and the more we'll have to pay.

If you're on a heat pump, the system works noticably more efficiently (and cheaply) if you set it to a constant termperature rather than yo-yoing it up and down all day long.

We do the same, but a/c nice and low when I'm sleeping is one of my "tier one" luxuries (meaning, it is the last to be cut back on).

We bump it high when we get up and back down at bedtime.

Well, they send out notices about every member meeting, and whenever I've dealt with them they've been very good. So, give them a call, and maybe you can help them source less expensive energy sources.

I am not complaining about the cost, I am suggesting that those who are should consider seeing what they can suggest or run for Board Of Directors.
For the individual who has 800 sq ft and pay $200 a month, I would consider a energy audit, I have a 2000 sq ft home and pay slighly more and my home is 12 years old.

Has anybody else noticed a huge increase with your electric bill this year . It seems to be up 50-60% . Nice time for this .
The hits just keep on coming !!!!!

Hail Yes!!!!! Even with our 'mild summer,' to boot!

My bill was even May and June. July went up 35% and I don't think we have temps over 92-93 'in town' for that period. August certainly hasn't been dog days, so I expect a drop in my bill.

But, yes, I noticed and I liked it none.

My bill last month was $290.00 and the new one just received is $237.00 for a one level- open floorplan, less than 1266 sq ft house. I might as well turn my oven into a mod bookshelf now as she'll never be used again.

I don't use the heat during the winter and bake up a storm! ;-)

I was wondering how our house stacked up against others in energy efficiency. After reading the comments on this thread, I can say that I feel better every day about the extra money I invested in foam insulation and a solar water heater. Our house is 1,500 sq. ft. two story and my last electric bill was $125 for a family of 3. This next bill will be higher, but then it'll drop back down to $75-80 for the Fall.
