I'll vouch for her. Her end of the state is more 'civilized'.

To the beach: About 30-40 minutes.

To THE beach: 6 hours.

IF I went to the beach around here, it would be to St. Pete Beach near the Don CeSar or Fort DeSoto Park, incidentally named No. 1 by Dr. Beach this year. My hometown has nothing on 30-A though. DH and I used to go to Sanibel/Captiva once a year (2.5 hours south) but now we just drive north. It's kind of odd, actually.
Hey TFT, I used to live just up the beach from there. I lived in Mederia Beach near John's Pass for a number of years. It was fun, but the beaches don't compare to SoWal!

9 1/2 hours, no matter what route we take. When our son was young we got used to stopping at the rest stop near Huntsville to look at the rocket. He thought it was neat. I was looking forward to the day we could just keep on driving and not stopping, but after 18 years of stopping there, as soon as I see the rocket come into view, I've got the use the bathroom. I guess I much like Pavlov's dog.

Well, we made it! Wow, 13 hours later & we are here. Arrived at 10am this morning to find beautiful blue water & 88 degree weather! The beaches here in front of Seagrove Dunes have taken a beating. Lots of stumps, but it appears to be getting covered pretty quickly. Nature will take care of that.

We do have a couple of jet skis out in the gulf here in Sowal. Authorities stopped and talked to the guy today but allowed him to keep riding. :dunno: I thought PWCs were not allowed here?

Anyway, I have not slept since Thursday night (it's now Saturday night  ). I went off and left my digital camera cords so I will be making a trip tomorrow to find a new cord to upload some great pics from today.

I don't realize how much I miss this place until I come back!! :clap_1:
