Yea for power! We lost power for 2 weeks after Ivan and it was almost unbearable!

I am so happy. Both kids enjoyed their baths and showers by candle light.:D They may keep that up. No school tomorrow either. Many areas and schools are still without power. I am glad b/c Sam would have missed school anyway due to a bad cold.

I received this from someone today who works in Texas government. Unfortunately, it was not my friend who lives in High Island and works for Galveston County that I still haven't heard from :sosad:

Click on the following link for 300 Hurricane Ike photos. I flew from Rockport, TX to High Island and back today taking coastal photos. The towns of Caplen and Gilchrist are GONE. Crystal Beach is heavily damaged.

is there any way that you could contact one of his family members? or possibly his company?

The other guy I know is also incommunicado (sp). He works for Galveston County and I know he is physically safe. I just don't know how much he's lost, if anything.

Texas, Our Texas
Texas, Our Texas! all hail the mighty State!
Texas, Our Texas! so wonderful so great!
Boldest and grandest, withstanding ev'ry test
O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.
[CHORUS]
God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.
God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.
Texas, O Texas! your freeborn single star,
Sends out its radiance to nations near and far,
Emblem of Freedom! it set our hearts aglow,
With thoughts of San Jacinto and glorious Alamo. [to chorus] Texas, dear Texas! from tyrant grip now free,
Shines forth in splendor, your star of destiny!
Mother of heroes, we come your children true,
Proclaiming our allegiance, our faith, our love for you. [to chorus]

The bath by candle light is always nice. My power at home is still out. My plant guy laughed this morning when he heard my power was still out. He said I looked "amazingly well coiffed". After I stopped laughing at him, he said that he wouldn't know I got ready by flashlight. I may have to continue to get ready this way. :funn:
