Prairieville, La
for the record, when the last few hurricanes came, the company that I worked for at the time took down all of their signs and then put them all back up after the storm....;-)
Seriously....I certainly hope everyone takes down all the "For Sale," realtor signs and political signs!

The computer models these days usually are pretty accurate from 72 hours out, so the decision to secure the house and bug out is usually about 48 hours out from projected landfall.

My guess for mandetory evacuation is 48 hrs prior to expected landfall. Leave a day or two sooner than mandetory evac, if you want zero traffic as opposed to bumber to bumber to Dothan, AL, as you run out of gas on the side of the road.

Shelly, not that you need it, but you have my permission to chop away. I might make a beach run myself and collect any and all crap which I can haul off the beach.

My signs will be coming down tomorrow if projected path is coming this way. I will also be reminding the other agents in my office to follow suit. It is not like buyers will be looking over the next 4 days anyway. Well, most buyers.

This reminds me of the house next door to me. A rental. The owners live in Texas and use VBRO for rentals, thus no rental ageny to prepare their house. When storms come our way, they do NOTHING to prepare. They have 4, (don't ask me why), gas grills in the back yard. I always go over and pull the grills along with their multiple trash cans to the east side of their house and bungie cord them together so they won't end up in my pool.:bang:

Yippie, I bet your neighbors are unaware of your caring thought and concern. One question, since the initial winds come from the east, why do you strap their stuff to the hardest hit, east side?
