Hwy 331 may soon become, "The Beach Highway"

Have any of you noticed that if you are west-bound on Hwy 98, at the intersection of 331, there is a south turn lane and a left turn traffic signal? Ever wonder why?

I'm assuming the FLDOT planner/engineer was lazy. If you go directly south of 331 it dead ends into Gulf Trace. Do you really think those folks want a major road ending near their entrance? A certain singer would probably move.

According to the PA's website there is only one tiny parcel that isn't state forest, and I'm pretty sure that even without current economic troubles the state could be convinced that we have sufficient north south routes in that area.

Which is the road to THE Slammer?? Maybe they can rename that one too.

They just did a couple of years ago...instead of WWII Veterans Lane, it's now Institution Road. Goes from SR83 by the Walton Correctional Institute to the county landfill. My hat's off to the small group of veterans who lobbied long for this small change.
