I think it is beautiful here...if only we had a beach instead of our pool out back!

I have been noticing quite a few Kentuckians on here as well!

I am in the Lake Cumberland area, just a few miles from one of the many state parks on the lake.

RiverOtter would LOVE this huge lake!

In June I drove up to Montecello (sp?), KY. Test drove and bought my current boat on KY Lake. WOW! Had no idea a lake that big was up there. That was a beautiful lake

I have been down there when the water looks like the blue-green gulf in Kurt and SJ's pics. You forget you are in a lake and not the ocean- until you see a big snapping turtle or other similar lake critter! The other clue would be the HUGE houseboats everywhere...

WELCOME SUNNY DAZE! We go to Cumberland a couple of times a year. Alligator One is where a buddy has his trailer home. Nothin' fancy but it does the job. We get his 28' ChrisCraft out and hit the water runnin'! We'll be there for the BIG Boats and to watch the Poker Run in September. I've never seen faster boats anywhere. We've done the Jamestown houseboat deal a few times too. Always a blast.

Sunday Liquor sales have now been officially approved for most of Louisville. Jeffersontown (J-Town) is a lone holdout. "Nope....... not gonna approve Sunday sales", says Mayor Clay Foreman........No big deal... there are liquor stores all over this area that are not in the boundaries and just down the street a little ways. Have a goodn'! KOE

Yes, it's a big victory for those of us who like to relax on Sunday! KOE- you can sit in you front yard tomorrow with a big bottle of bourbon and drink to your mayor!

Hello there to all fellow Kentucky natives. I live in Western Ky and it's a long drive down I-65 through Alabama to get to Sowal, but we cheer when we see the sign. My parents went to Cumberland College when it was a College and not a university and it is beautiful at the falls, but nothing compares to the greens and blues of the Gulf. We stayed at Seagrove in May and loved it and I am dying to come back down even for a couple days. By the welcome sunnydaze. :clap_1:

So ... You can now get a Mint Julip on Sunday

If anyone wants to sip a julep while watching The Weather Channel, here is the recipe:

The Kentucky Mint Julep

Simple syrup-boil 1 cup water & 1 cup sugar

To a julep cup of crushed ice
Add simple syrup to sweeten nice
Two jiggers of bourbon for robust flavor
and lots of fresh mint to sniff, sip and savor

(Recipe from the Louisville Stoneware Mint Julep cup)

I have enough mint to supply Churchill Downs during Derby week, so if anyone is ever in the area, please come by and take some!
