You are correct, but traffic was an issue pre-Charlie...I guess something good came of the storm after all. I met the Mayor six years ago at a statewide city goverment convention, and he admitted to the island's congested traffic.
A politician are you? Willing to publicly admit so? Brave soul, I applaud! :clap_1:
TheSheep got to meet a former Mayor in a rather rude way. It seems while grazing, The Sheep made a left turn down what appeared to be a ruddedy farm road. RAMbling along, I found myself in between large white cars with sunglassed bespectacled notsogentlemen. :dunno:

I was quickly informed that one Sheep, I, had best re-graze in the opposite direction post haste. Being without my usual arsenal of ninja stars, semi-autos and WMSheepD, I decided to turn bushy tail and run.

I am sure Porter Goss is a loverly man. I am also sure I will never find out.

I'm no politician. I was at Lake Buena Vista at a large hotel for a wedding reception, and decided to walk into the adjacent meeting room. Met some interesting folks. One fellow from Fort Walton Beach told me about Ventana Dunes, in Blue Mountain Beach, and said lots could be had for 40-50k. Can you imagine??

You have brought to mind a similar escapade that we had on Sanibel Island, though yours was a happier event than ours. We were innocently riding bicycles when we came upon a road that seemed to us as yours did to you. I would rather have had burly white cars after me than the pack of burly guard dogs we found! I discovered muscles in my legs I never knew I had. I never knew the words "fast peddlers" like I did when there was a legion of baying four-legged bullies after me. Evidently what we considered a small county road was in reality a private drive.

Those private drives, careful, careful.

In 1960's late after his poisioning at the hands of his own cadre' (The Company isn't a united force, imagine that!), The soon to be Mayor (1974) having re-joined hands with black ops buddy-wuddies prior, set about making many "private roads and drives" for all his buddy-wuddies. He turned Sanibel into a private estuary for the ultra-wealthy and the ultra-spooky. His reward was to be elevevated througt the U.S. Senate all the way to the head of the CIA! Oh, my, being poisioned has its possibilities, eh?

As the crowds gathered, the spookies got pushed out except the ones who sliced off a section of the estuary that is :)eek:).

Remember, the next time you see a long, private drive that leads to nowhere, it leads to somewhere and that ain't necessarily good. :nono1:

For those with Google Earth, take a peek at the last house @ approximately 26 degrees 27 minutes 46.70 seconds N 82 degrees 03 minutes 57.08 seconds W

Refer back once you do, there is a secret! :creepy:

nice location. is that where you stayed? we used to go over to sanibel every couple of weeks back in the 70's. it was quite nice back then. pretty quiet.
Nay, John, stayed off East Gulf, east end of Sanibel, on the canals. It is what is missing from that Placemark that is interesting. :creepy:
