Aw, don't worry about us north of the Mason-Dixon line. We're built tough. Sort of have to be, given that winter is the boot camp of the seasons: it's good for building character. ;-)

I'm not worried. just saying I understand why some would not enjoy winter season in northern regions. its quite different from what I know.:wave:

Not me...I love frozen precipitation and all of the dangerous sports associated with it (except driving.) Not that I'm any good at skiing, snowboarding, etc, but I sure do love attempting them!

One of my favorite memories was one of the first winters I was in this house. I have a little screened in porch with a sling-type swing, and I love sitting out there at night. I live on a main road--kind of like 30-A in volume and speed. I constantly hear cars going by.

But that night we had snow. I turned on my flood light, bundled up, and went out to watch it. It was about 1 a.m., and I've never heard such complete silence here. I could only hear the sound of the snow falling off trees in soft little pulfffs. After a while, I heard a train whistle...and the closest train track is a good ten miles from me. I coulda died happy right then...

:love::cool::D

I keep a goose down comforter on my back porch at all times for this very purpose. no traffic, just nature. sometimes boats.

Merman's gone away on business overnight but when he gets back I'll have him post a picture of himself in the winter. He thoroughly enjoys the snow, as you will soon see. :lol:

No. I don't. I can't breath out of my nose and I've been sneezing all day. AND I have to wear closed toe shoes. The only one's I like are my uggs and running shoes - but thoes don't mix too well with work. Ready to rock the flip flops again. :)

Hubby was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin. He absolutley despises cold weather. He would never move back there because of the harsh weather. He said that when we packed up the car yesterday at Seagrove, he felt colder than when it was 10 below in Madison.

I'm spending most of January in SoWal. Hope it warms up!

I was in Evanston today, dropped my son off to his music lesson, had to walk ONLY about 4 blocks to a Borders off campus. Thought I was gonna die. That wind was whipping like a mofo off the lake. I had on the bulky coat, scarf wrapped around my face/nose, gloves (which I rarely wear), boots, hat. The parts of my skin that was exposed, burned (temporarily of course). I really needed to have my sunglasses on to keep the wind from my eyes. Let me tell you, it's a biatch to try to lock (& unloock) your car with your key fob with huge gloves on and NOT set the car alarm off!!! :lol: Good Lord.

But hey, it only lasts a short while - until late March. Then, spring is absolutely spectacular!! :clap:

I have to admit, I do love all the trappings and accessories of winter: cute hats and scarves, sweaters, hot chocolate, fires in the fireplace...but a month of it is enough, kind of like the first big snowfall of the season is beautiful and enough. :D
