What also confuses people is the fact that Santa Rosa Beach is not in Santa Rosa County ...

Nor is the Santa Rosa Beach Post Office located in Santa Rosa Beach. It is located between Santa Rosa Beach, aka Gulf Place, and the Old Town of Santa Rosa.

Kurt has the right idea -- rename all of this area SoWal, FL and each neighborhood could be listed additionally for community pride.

Strange are the ways of the post office. Up until about 2003, we'd occasionally still get bulk junk mail addressed to Resident, Rural Route 8, Niceville, FL 32578. One of the reasons that I joke about living on the border of suburbia and BFE.

It's only been recently that the post office began to stress using the Santa Rosa Beach name. My mom always used Rt 2, Box 3100 (this was before 911), Point Washington...the little communities used to be much more separate than they are now. These days, we all run together - just one big happy family!

Left @Cty. Hwy. 85/Pike Rd./Ware's Ferry/Carter Hill Rd.
Turn right and immediate left at Hwy. 82/US 231
In Troy turn right at Hwy. 87
Stay on 87 by bearing to right at Hwy. 87/167
Stay on 87 by turning left in downtown Elba-COPS!
Then Hwy. 87 turns right at Veterans Memorial
In Samson turn right onto Hwy. 52
Turn left onto Hwy. 153 (becomes 83 at the FL line)
In DeFuniak Springs right@US 90;quick left@US 331
In Freeport stay on US 331 by turning left@Hwy. 20
Stay on 331 by taking a right
At US 98@331 take a left
Take a right at Hwy. 395 which dead-ends on 30-A
