The storm, sans ice, is rolling over Walton County at the moment. Water spouts have been spotted just off shore, and a nasty radar red glob is moving NE from the Gulf towards Rosemary Beach. Look out!
SJ did you see the semi truck on hwy 98, east of 393 that the tornado blew over yesterday morning? Heard several roofs came off as well in Dune Allen. Have not seen any pics but I did see the semi. Pretty scary

Wow that is scary. I remember when we used to take our vacations to SOWAL during my June bday every year, it would seem like every year when we were down there, there would always be a tornado warning for Walton Co. By the way the picture I took, which is in the photos section, where I describe almost getting struck by lightning, Walton Co. was under a tornado warning and I was standing on the beach!

we stayed at inlet beach last april, and had some terrible storms a couple of nights, you could just see all the lightning hitting the water, kinda creepy ! it was funny, the garage of the house where we were staying had water running into it under the door, and my father-in-law had parked in the garage. he went out the next morning to get something, without turning the light on, and stepped into water over his ankles. reminded me of our basement but that's another story.

Wow, you guys! I remember ice storms from my Atlanta living days. We once had one that trapped us for several days. When the power finally came on, we were down to splitting up some of the (cheap) furniture for firewood. My Florida's mom's advice: "Get under your electric blanket immediately and turn the heat all the way up!" :dunno: I know how terrifying it is to be hunkered down inside, listening to the big pines crack and transformers explode. But I also remember how absolutely gorgeous everything looked encased in glistening ice, especially the red berries and dormant branches.

You guys down in South Walton better get that weather shaped up ASAP. We are headed that way next Tuesday and expect some cozy temps. It has been so cold and foggy here in northern CA and the ground is covered with frost that looks like snow. We awoke this morning to a Mt. St. Helena (not to be confused with the smoking one in WA) that had a snow-capped peak. The frost is definitely on the pumpkin.
