I'm not sure what you mean. ???You surprise me, Johnrudy. I thought for sure you'd say "SoWal" since for as long as you've been on the message board for SoWal, you've never been to SoWal.![]()
Midland and Odessa Texas. Ugh! Ugliest place on earth! I drove through there when I was moving myself to Scottsdale, AZ in 1988. I don't know how those people can live there. Brown, ugly, sad looking.
Other than that, I can always find something I love about some area.

I've got relatives around there. It is pretty brown. A lightning storm there is something to behold though.![]()
Sitka, Alaska. Maybe I missed something but what I saw of it had been transformed to cater to cruiseship crowds. I felt like they had let their beautiful heritage get buried under t-shirt and novelty stores.
Death Valley Cal. The Summer of '01 was a bummer.
A year-round course but the summers can be extremely hot. It sports the distinction of being the lowest course in the world (214 feet below sea level). Water comes into play on 10 of the 18 holes. Walking is permitted. Half-price green fees May -Oct. due to summer temps that could reach over 120 degrees. This was July & I saw people playing golf. The temp. the day we toured was 126 with 30 mph winds.
The next day we went to Mt. Charlston north of Las Vegas & the temp. was 46 with snow on the ground.
Sometimes the Wild West really is wild.
