I just read stories about two hospitals in downtown New Orleans that have had no help at all. Last night one of the nurses was on the phone with CNN crying....
Why isn't the country giving as much attention to this situation as they are in Iraq? When they needed to find Bin Laden or Sadaam Husein, they were so proud to show how advanced all their technology is with radar and sonar and God knows what else, we can pinpoint a bombing with "pinpoint accuracy." Why then can't we get help into a major American City like New Orleans faster? 30 people in a nursing home died, critically ill patients are sitting on a hospital rooftop for two days now, waiting for a rescue that still hasn't come. Why can't we give these rescues half as much attention as we give Iraq every day?
I heard Bush on t.v. this morning, he said they (the people in peril in NO) should know that "America is behind them." I'm sure that is so comforting for the person in ICU at the hospital in New Orleans whose been laying in their own feces for three days WAITING for help to arrive, or the dialysis patient who died because they couldn't get out of their house to get dialysis.
I'm not at ALL political and usually don't pay too much attention to politics and what's going on (shame on me,) but this is just blowing me away. This is so frustrating and discouraging and heartbreaking. Yes, I'm sending money, but our government spends billions on wars and yet they can't help our own faster?
