I find it funny how a person can start having concerns about a TV family that you don't even know. I'm starting to worry about Maddie. She has some real issues concerning the other 7 kids getting any kind of attention. They need to nip that in the bud, or they are gonna have a hellion on their hands!

I think she was the second born (maybe I am too involved in this if I know that). If so, the birth order theory proving itself. First born daughters are the mother types. Second born daughters are attention seekers, jealous and clingy if I remember correctly (data may be clouded by observations of my own daughters).

I just watched my first episode tonight. After all the buzz on the board, I had to check it out.

Let me just say that I have a WHOLE new respect for parents everywhere. I always knew that kids were a handful, but looking at an escalated situation totally puts it over the edge. You guys are awesome. Thanks!!

But those kids are ADORABLE! I've never seen a bunch of kids that are cute even when they are crying and screaming. And John and Kate are so sweet! I can't believe that they can handle EIGHT kids and still maintain their sense of humor and sanity.

I'm addicted.

I hate that the media is truning Kate into some obsessive compulsive husband abusing biotch. It's a reality show that actually shows real life. Come on. no ones perfect. Can you imagine if she didn't obsess about messes? Messy x 8 = mom living in filth and doesn't care splashed across the screen.

I agree OL. Then they'd be an episode on Clean House with my fave Niecy Nash. That girl is a hot mess.

I am amazed at how organized and patient Kate is. I had two and had to be peeled from the ceiling from time to time.

They both seem to be loving, and kind parents. In this day and age it's refreshing to see parents striving to raise happy, healthy kids.

I am waiting for them to figure out it is a lot quicker and easier to cut the kids french toast pancakes and sandwiches with a pizza cutter instead of a knife....I just wanted to shout at Jon through the tv....use a pizza cutter while his hungry 8 were waiting for the food while he was cutting it

My 17 year old daughter watches this show all the time and warned me as I watched an episode with her one day that I would become addicted.
She was right! I agree with a previous poster, I constantly worry about Maddie and worry the show won't be on through her teenage years when things will really get exciting with her attention seeking behavior.

I may be in the minority here, but I can hardly watch her anymore. It's not the obsessing about messes as much as she really does come across as a control freak with a tendency toward snottiness. She definitely can run a household, but she never seems to relax. I need a Valium just to watch the show.

I just started watching when this thread was posted. I've watched past episodes too. I think she has to be kind of a control freak b/c John is so laid back. The cleanliness/germ thing kind of gets to me and she reminds me of my sister...which at the moment I find hard to be around. She has a 2 and a 5 yr old and she's turned into a germaphobe/hypochondriac! I was concerned about things to but didn't go to the extreme. My kids survived and didn't contract ecoli, staph, and didn't "dry drown".( her latest thing to worry about) Honestly, these things could possibly happen to the best of us. I mean don't lice choose the clean kids to infest?:D
