I mentioned juicing in another thread and was asked to start one on juicing.
After being treated for colon cancer I learned that a diet high in fruits and veggies is a preventative for colon cancer. I must admit, I wasn't getting my 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day. So, I started trying and found it hard to consume that many in a day. That is when I heard about juicing. I do it for the health benefits.
The belief is that the enzymes from the fruits and veggies are able to work faster/better w/ out your body having to digest the fiber that comes from eating fruits/veggies rather than "drinking" them. So, I am giving it a try. To my delight, fresh juice (some anyway) tastes so much better than a carton or bottle.
My first decision was what juicer to get. That one was solved for me, my parents gave us a Jack Lalanne stainless juicer for Christmas. It works great and can take many things whole, like small apples, pears, peeled oranges.
Today I had this recipe for breakfast and enjoyed quick energy from it.
(the amounts are large as I prepared enough for me and 3 kiddos)
6 oranges
3 Clementines
2 Carrots
Yummm...Anyone else want to share their favorite recipe?
