My perfect beach
My favorite is apple and carrot with a little bit of celery thrown in. Three different colors - it has to be good.

As for feeling energy level increases, etc., not me. It represents an easier way to ingest veggies and fruit. I guess it is still good for you. Look at Jack. He has to be at least 115 or so.

Close; he's 95! Thanks for the info on juicing. Bought a cheapie model to try it before investing in a heavy duty model. I'll try some of the mixtures mentioned here. I hate to say it, but I tried one blend at a local health food store and couldn't make myself drink it. I do eat salad and/or vegetables virtually every day either with or for dinner, but I've never been a vegetable juice fan. We'll see. . . . .

The trick I've always found with veggie juice is to mix in some fruit, adds some sweetness to the mix.

I've got a Breville Ikon Juicer that is just wonderful. But I don't juice much. It's easier to run to Publix and get some Naked Juice. But when I do juice, I end up using both the juicer and the blender. I do my juicing, poor it into the blender and then add frozen berries and sometimes raw oatmeal and peanut butter. That way it's thicker and I get all kinds of good stuff including fiber.

somehow that sounds kind of good.

Me too, OM. I don't get hungry until around 10am and by then I'm starving and will eat anything fast and disgusting. :bang:We have a Jack Lalanne juicer that Mr. DD bought me for Christmas about 4 years ago. We juiced like hell the first 6 months but haven't used it in forever. You all have inspired me to get it out, dust it off, and give it a whirl again. I do remember that I really liked the juices. Some more than others. I don't care what you do to broccoli, it's just yucky, but I guess I could choke it down if it was drowning and disguised in tomato, garlic and spinach, maybe. :dunno:

We keep saying we're going to buy a ggod juicer & haven't. We had a crappy one that a non-juicing family member gave to me a few Christmases ago & it died. I love juicing, & will have juice for my breakfast.... when we finally get around to buying it. I do not like eating solid food right when I get up & I know I need to consume something beyond coffee for the first 2 hours I'm up.

when you gals get to juicing maybe you can share some recipes with us!

I don't have a juicer ...not yet...but I'm addicted to Odwalla carrot juice and buy it whenever it is on sale. For some reason I'll pay $6 but won't spring for $8. I pulverize oatmeal in my bullet blender, add carrot juice, and whatever fruit I have around...strawberries..melon,then a couple cubes. YUM I will get a juicer one day!

I've had some pretty good juices out of a blender. so why not just stick with it, and forget the juicer? what are the benefits of a juicer over a blender? is it the removal of chunky stuff that a juicer does that is so great and wonderful?

juicer vs blender

I'd like a juicer for the woody veges like celery and carrots. Nothing better than fresh carrot juice. This thread really makes me want to get a juicer and start experimenting. Let's hear recipes!

I will reply more to this thread later. I have a huge spreadsheet w/ many recipes and will share my own. We are under the gun here w/ weather and tornado's, so my time is limited...I'll share some recipes tomorrow.

Don't get juiced yourself. Hope everything turns out okay.

omc...I thought this was about ARod.

Me, too!

Uh, his name is now "A-roid".

Another reporter/columnist called him "A-fraud."

I heard about it because of Obama's conference--our Character Education speaker (a conservative evangelical marine!) was commending Obama for his answer about integrity. Segue to my rant on role models...

These sound pretty tasty. I don't what in the heck I did with my JL recipe book, but I'm gonna drag that juicer out and try some of these.
