On the other hand, I selectively use fakes to save money. For example, if I wear a pair of Manolo's, I can get by with wearing them with, say, linen pants from Old Navy, and everyone will tell me how great I look. Or I'll buy, say, a Marc Jacobs jacket at Neiman Marcus and put it with an inexpensive pair of pants and T-shirt from The Gap, and my friends think the entire outfit is Marc Jacobs. Another example is jewelry - as long as I have on anything expensive (clothes, shoes, bag, jewelry), I can get by with cubic zirc stud earrings instead of real ones. People assume it's all real.

A fake LV or Prada bag, on the other hand, doesn't last long. I've tried that, and I don't do it any more.

I'm not a blinger myself, so that is a funny story about LV and Las Vegas. My good friend's dog has an LV collar and carrying bag (pug), which is a bit over the top for me! I do like nice bags - but just very plain and good quality leather or suede. No labels, initials, or advertising in any way! And that especially goes for jeans- I don't want anyone getting up close to my *ss to read what label I'm wearing!

This thread is making me feel very fortunate to have the friends I have, who couldn't care less whose name or initials are on my belongings or where they were purchased. Gotta my friends!

I'm an idiot. I was making 30k at the time. I put $500 shoes on my Saks card. Those shoes ended up costing me about $700. That's half my rent.

Shoes? In Westbury there's a shoe store with about Five floors that sells just SHOES! And Great prices too. "Love My Shoes" are where I find great buys and great shoes too.
