Cycling on the path is a great way to get around SoWal as long as you're not interested to in going all out. I think it's much safer than the road but that's debatable. You can go anywhere you want without worrying about parking, and get somewhat of a workout. Get a cheap cruiser with thicker tires and ride across rougher terrain. Explore the eastern lake trail. It's well worth it! Make sure youre bike has a light, horn/bell, and be ready willing and able to cuss people out.

That is a perfect description of the path. It's also a perfect description of why it is totally not suitable for the MAMLs riding road bikes...huge speed disparity, path has too much sand and debris, bridges have raised nail heads (those don't mix well with a tire no wider than your thumb pumped to 110 psi).

Unfortunately, the two bike worlds do not mesh much to the consternation of motorists on 30A.

Oh...MAML? Mature Adult Makes in Lycra! ;)
