Growing up in GA, always playing in red clay, let me just reiterate gotothebeachmom, "you're screwed." You might try some rust remover, but it may melt the clothes. It is iron in the clay which turns it red, so in reality, you would be attempting to remove rust.

OK...I've got a couple of new products to check out and ideas to try. If all else fails, I always need khaki capris during football season. Or I might just keep them for gameday pants and get new ones for work. Thanks!

And to the poster that advised a bikini and flip-flops - the flip-flops are cool but it is apparent you don't know what I look like.:rotfl:

Fels-Naptha is the best! If it doesn't work...:dunno:. It comes in bar form with a white wrapping and green and orange/red print...good stuff and I think Publix carries it.
thank god you haven't put them in the dryer yet.

I've always had wonderful luck with Fels-Naptha soap.

You should soak the stained area again in cold water, then use this bar of soap as a pre-treatment. Really rub that bar over that soaked stain. Then after a few hours, wash in cold water. Repeat as many times until the stain is removed.

You can find Fels-Naptha on the bottom shelf in the laundry section at your supermarket.

Good luck!

When we lived outside of Chattanooga, we used vinegar to get out red clay stains. The problem is though if the stain has dried, you might be stuck with it and capris might be the only answer. Good Luck.

Yeah, Fels-Naptha is used at my cleaners. I always see bars of it laying around their counter-tops and work areas. I say it's definitely worth a try.

I think if she re-soaks again in cold water she might be ok. I think the damage is done by the heat of the dryer.
