You seem to neglect one small fact. This is, supposedly, no longer a campaign. He is now President, not a candidate and "play book" is a term that should not be in play, possibly "affirmative results" would be better. So far, none are being seen, though people like Axelrod are sure trying their best to spin it that way.

Sizing Up Obama's First 100 Days - TIME The President almost seemed apologetic. "This may be a slightly longer speech than I usually give," he told his audience at Georgetown University on April 14. "This is going to be prose and not poetry." What followed, as promised, was not poetry. Barack Obama doesn't do much poetry anymore. But in prose that was spare and clear and compelling, the President proceeded to describe how his Administration had responded to the financial crisis, the overriding challenge of his first 100 days in office. He had covered this ground before, nearly as well, in his budget message to Congress. But now Obama went further, using a parable from the Sermon on the Mount ? the need for a house built on rock rather than on sand ? to describe a future that was nothing less than an overhaul of the nature of American capitalism. "It is simply not sustainable," he said, "to have an economy where, in one year, 40% of our corporate profits came from a financial sector that was based on inflated home prices, maxed-out credit cards, overleveraged banks and overvalued assets."

Taking personal responsibility for their education and future is a great message...now if he would just deliver the same message to the left leaning parents. Instead his next speech this week will be back to the victimhood and entitlement programs so that we can move closer towards the changed America of total government dependency.
you just went out of the right lane, crossed the emergency lane, and took the exit to tangentville.

there was a large portion of this text taken out.....the controversial version. i was opposed the original, but this one was good. but, make no mistake about it, the prez changed his course due to pressure from the opposition and the opposition was justified in opposing it.

Andy,
The above post by kkddbb is exactly what 30-A Skunkape predicted would happen. The "playbook" going on here is coming from kkddbb. People were just waiting for it to crop up, and it didn't take long!
He/She has thrown this out here but has yet to substantiate anything. Just trying to cover butt imo. We'll see ---- still waiting .............................

I think not but I am laughing recalling some of the mandatory assemblies I attended in my youth. Many featuring presenters who had no idea what to say or why. They seemed real nervous around teenagers. Oh, and there was that time in college, I was at Auburn and George Wallace came to protest some speaker and called Auburn "a hot bed of communism"...Well we partied a lot but communism?????:D

Andy, it is the Republicans who are using the PlayBook, trying their best to destroy anything that the President does.

He is the President, duly elected, and as Mrs. Bush says, "we all should respect the Office of the President..." he is, after the president of all the people.

But, the Republican campaign to win back some power is struggling and they are desperate. Unfortunately, the moderate conservative wing of the Party has given away to the fringe element, they are floundering, and suffering, and many are being exploited by the scare tactics, I truly hope that soon, before any more damage is done to anything, that someone in the Republican Party will stand up and say Enough.

I have posted this before: what we all need now is another Bill Buckley to speak the true conservatism and to lead a Party that has gone off track back to some semlance of order.
The only part of this diatribe I agree with is the part about Bill Buckley but without him available I'd substitute Newt Gingrich, a great statesman, not just a politician. If the Republicans had followed his "Contract with America", we wouldn't be in the mess we are in.
And I still say no "play book" is in play. I must admit to not having participated in political campaigns or politics. In the first place, the military frowned upon it and in the second, I was rather otherwise occupied at the time.
It is also my belief that any self respecting moderate Conservative is any thing but scared. They are concerned. Concerned that our nation is being taken down a path of utter fiscal destruction at this point in time and it must be stopped! We cannot put the costs of this and the previous administrations on the backs of our children and grandchildren. Some seem intent on doing this regardless of what they are told. The litany of government programs that are costly and unnecessary are mind boggling. Once again, it must be stopped.

Great post!

I agree that there is no "play book" in play. I peruse a good number of political 'news' sites, both left and right. I am fairly certain I would have run across the book if there were one. I consider myself right of center. I agree with the "left" on many social issues but rarely on any fiscal issues. I agree with the "right" nearly always on fiscal issues.

There was a terrific interview with David Walker, president and CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, in the Opinion section of the Wall Street Journal this weekend. Among other things, he supports term limits. Interesting thoughts overall. The entire interview is worth a read.

This part particularly got my attention:
As I prepare to go, Mr. Walker returns to the theme of economic education. Poor schools often produce young people with few tools to help them realize the extent of the fiscal trap their generation is going to fall into.
One way the Peterson Foundation wants to change that is to bring big numbers down to earth so people can comprehend them. "Our $56 trillion in unfunded obligations amount to $483,000 per household. That's 10 times the median household income?so it's as if everyone had a second or third mortgage on a house equal to 10 times their income but no house they can lay claim to." As for this year's likely deficit of $1.8 trillion, Mr. Walker suggests its size be conveyed thusly: "A deficit that large is $3.4 million a minute, $200 million an hour, $5 billion a day," he says. That does indeed put things into perspective.

Sorry, guys, if I let the jargon of my former profession get in the way of my clarity. See definition 3 below:

"
PLAYBOOK
Pronunciation (US):

Dictionary entry overview: What does playbook mean?

? PLAYBOOK (noun)
The noun PLAYBOOK has 3 senses:

1. a notebook containing descriptions and diagrams of the plays that a team has practiced (especially an American football team)
2. a book containing the scripts of one or more dramatic plays
3. a scheme or set of strategies for conducting a business campaign or a political campaign

I am pretty sure that no one outside the inner workings of the political leadership will ever see
the play book. At least not intentionally...

everyone is for reform and fiscal responsibility as long as they get their check or don't have to pay more taxes
