The search was called off for the manatee around 2:30 today. They even went into the Wolf River supposedly to check for the manatee. If the manatee surfaces again Sea World wants them to call them back. It costs around 30,000 dollars for one manatee rescue. And wouldn't you know that the day they quit searching the weather has cleared somewhat and it is around 64 degrees where as the past two days of searching have been nothing but rain and cool temps in the 50's. They needed this weather over the past two days. And the temps for the weekend are going to be in the 60's to around 70. It's a real shame. The Harbor Patrol is going to continue looking for a few more days probably. I just don't feel the Harbor Patrol and the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife handled things very well. Like no boat out all night Wednesday night in the harbor monitoring the movement of the manatee when it was wedged between the two barges. I guess they assumed it would not get out of that area as it appeared trapped between the two. But manatees can swim under things.
