As SWGB said in another forum, some people are just baiters and some people are masters at it...:dunno:

:rotfl: Not this thread, too!

Well, I get to go back to a place that decided to cool off while I was retreating from the heat and will have temps back up in the 100's starting tomorrow! Pucking, Dallas.

I have one thing to add to this "disCUSSion". One thing that is very obvious is the urban areas, with their tons of concrete, always have higher temps than the surrounding rural areas....lots of trees were cut down as well. That IS man made.

Ozone depletion is a fact whether you like Al Gore or not. And Al did not make this assumption on his own, but research conducted for many years by others, he simply made it into news.

And I for one will be thankful for that if it saves even one polar bear.

I support the theory that we can not change or bend Mother Nature to our whims, but we can not destroy our planet by being reckless with its care and endangering its wildlife because of greed.

The sad thing is the Europeans get it, Americans don't. :sosad:

For the self-righteous, look at what you drive, what you eat, what temp you set your A/C at (and I'm sure that you use it), how much water you use as you enjoy your shower/bath, at how much trash you produce vs. recycle, at what you write on, or write with, at your means of lighting, or cooking, or heating, and what you waste at any given moment....generally speaking.....in any corner of your life. You should be humbled, and quieted, by the reality of what you do every single day of your life to speed depletion of the ozone/water/rainforest/arctic-antarctic ice/animal population/natural resources/blah-blah-blah.....

Forget the original humor meant for this thread.....and think of the reality of the b/s it produced. Reality is a *()$^+!

I ate a T-bone steak last night......I've done my part to reduce global warming! Now there's one less cow to produce the methane gas that depletes the ozone....

(for the twisted of panties, yes, this was said in jest...)

For the self-righteous, look at what you drive, (I do) what you eat (most definitely I do) , what temp you set your A/C at (sometimes I don't even turn it on lol) (and I'm sure that you use it), how much water you use (always turn off water when not needed) as you enjoy your shower/bath (with an outdoor solar shower I can shower with hot water 7 months out of the year) , at how much trash you produce (always try to look at packaging and bring my own bags) vs. recycle, at what you write on (don't throw out paper if I can make scrap note paper from it) , or write with, at your means of lighting (absolutely!) , or cooking (most definitely - I even like to cook outside - if I cook (eat a lot of raw foods) - to keep from heating up house) , or heating, and what you waste at any given moment....generally speaking.....in any corner of your life. You should be humbled (I do it because it just seems like the natural way to exist - and I feel like WHY WASTE?)

I have a very comfortable life doing those things. LOL it isn't weird or self righteous to moi.

:D:D

I thought the original idea of the thread was funny - because just a few weeks ago back in LA it was HOT HOT HOT and NO RAIN for an entire month and people were saying, Hmmmmm maybe there is global warming. I don't think it is as simple as a cool or hot spell.

Doesn't matter - we need to all do our part to conserve for the future - we can find what level we are comfortable with.
