Bristol Palin & Levi Johnston are engaged!

Bristol's mother, Sarah Palin, didn't know about the on-again relationship until it was revealed in a tabloid magazine.

That's at least twice Mama Grizzly didn't know where her cubs were.

hey as a mom or a dad, our adult age children make their own choices and do things according to their own drummer...that is the way they grow and learn...you and I are just lucky that we don't have the news media watching and following our children as they move into adulthood and posting every little tidbit, every stumble or every mistake for all the world to see ....in my humble opinion which has zero value...I think Levi is a loser and shouldn't be given the time a day...but then it really is none of my business. I have always thought that children of politicans should be off limits to the media...but Sarah's family sure hasn't had that granted to them...even her young son Trip has been in the news, even has been made fun of.....wish the media would swarm more over real political stories and report on them...those stories are OUR BUSINESS!

I agree that the kids should be left off limits and regret that media were exposing Palin's kids from the start. That said, I don't get the impression that she set any boundaries to begin with. I wish she would have requested from the start that they be off limits and then reiterated her wishes more directly when they pressed. She didn't resist bringing her baby into an issue or two...

I agree with you that the Children themselves ought to be off limits. My comment was aimed at the perceived hypocrisy of the mother.

The engagement announcement came right on the heels of the release of her political ad, entitled Mama Grizzly, in which she says:

?Moms kinda just know when something?s wrong. Here in Alaska, I always think of the mama grizzly bears that rise up on their hind legs when somebody?s coming to attack their cubs, to do something adverse to their cubs.?

The point is: she didn't know
-about the engagement
-about her high school daughter's involvement that resulted in her pregnancy

You're certainly right to point out that this could happen to any of our adult children.
Therefore, we shouldn't go around pretending we have everything under control.
If Sarah weren't so all family values, she wouldn't be such an easy target.

Sarah herself has put more spotlight on her youngest than the media has.

Also, she shoots mama grizzlies.

My understanding is that Bristol & Levi went to this magazine and asked them to do the story because Bristol didn't know how to tell her parents.
It could be they just wanted money for the story but I did not get the idea that the media chased after them on this one.

I certainly would be fine never knowing as I really don't care.

Ugabuga is correct in that the timing of Palin's Grizzly comment and Bristol's revelation makes one take notice.

My prediction is that Bristol and Levy have reality show aspirations. For a family that despises and is such a victim of the media- they sure are media whores.

Sad because it is true or sad because it is false? I did not coin the term media whore. But I believe it fits. And truth be told- I believe Sarah Palin has masterfully parlayed her loss on the presidential ticket into multimillion dollar success- via the media.

You're right:

Levi & Bristol are not the story.

The story is a Family Values politician who aspires to the 1st or 2nd highest office in America (in the world?) who tells us she's a Mama Grizzly who "kinda just know(s) when something's wrong", while at the same time Not knowing about her cub getting pregnant in high school & Not knowing about her cub getting back together with that guy.

Levi & Bristol have no impact on our lives.
Sarah Palin aspires to have influence over our lives.

The way Sarah Palin manages her personal life is relevant.
