If guns kill people, do pencils misspell words? Does a spoon make us fat? :dunno:

p.s. I did not come up with these...

 Funny!

Another I've heard: Diet cola must make you fat because I only see fat people drinking it.

mcdonald's for years fried their french fries in beef fat, saying their customer's demanded the taste. kellogg put trans fats and palm/cocunut oils in all their sugar laden cereals because it was the cheapest thing to do. this sets the stage for obesity and bad health. the fixes for the fast food industry are oftentimes easy. society pays the price.

I didn't know mcdonalds made you eat their french fries, or kelloggs made you eat their cereals.

I have yet to see a law that required anyone to own a gun, And I have not seen a LAW that says someone has a right to break into another's home or business. These are Choices. Most people would hopefully make an Educated Choice. I agree that Gun ownership is a responsibility that the owners should have at least a basic knowledge and common sense of gun ownership. EDUCATION is the KEY word IMO.

Education is great but who makes the education requirements? What are your education requirements before allowing ownirship of a firearm. Do you require an in depth knowledge of use of force even lethal force? Do you require in depth knowledge of firearms usage for hunting? Do you require a demenstration of ability if so define it. If you require education and ability before ownership then the skill set and knowledge requirements can be made so ownerous that no one can quilify. Such as take a old police snub nose .38 and fire 10 rounds into a one inch circle at 1000 yards. It is impossible but if the requirement to demonstrate ability was written into law than some groups will push for such requirements. Also what will be the cost of such education and training prior to the ability for someone to own a firearm? Will it be provided free or will you be required to shell out $50.00 or $500.00 or $5,000.00 or some other amount and how often will you be required to retake the "Education".

Beleave it or not I beleave all people should be given basic firearms instruction in school but requiring education prior to ownership just opens up ways of denying more people the ability to own a firearm.

My solution for anyone that cares is to not eat it. Yours is to get the lawyers and government involved. I would rather hold myself accountable in return for government leaving me the eff alone.

Take responsibility for our own actions.

and only speeders get to hog the left lane?

Well, I don't hog the left lane, but I must admit it is quite annoying when someone eases in front of me going slower than I. This all to pass the person poking along in the right or middle lane. :dunno:

I saw a Cadillac once who had large words on his windshield backwards:

SLOWER TRAFFIC, GET IN THE RIGHT LANE!!

I thought he was Type A Anal Head and possibly dangerous. Maybe I shouldn't have judged him :funn:

Lynnie: In Germany, they have no speed limits on the autobahn, but they do have a strict law that slower traffic must use the right lane. (They have fewere accidents than we do).

LVT, thanks - I've been on the autobahn and what you describe is exactly correct. This guy might have been of German descent, but we ain't got no Autobahn here the United States. MT: no speed limit during the daylight hours. :D

I figured he was in sales or something like that.

just as the car manufacturors didn't force us to endure cars with no seatbelts and metal dashboards, or consider the microscopic lead we breathed from leaded gasoline? corporate america has a responsibility not to hurt or poison people in order to enrich their shareholders. how can you defend unethical behavior on such a large scale?

I'm not accusing anyone here of being right or wrong, nor am I trying to pick a fight, but how did some of you immediately jump the conclusion that tighter gun control laws would have stopped this incident from happening. There aren't any facts in the story pointing to prior criminal history, or anything for that matter that would have prevented this man from owning a gun. My guess is, and again, just a guess, that those on the side of tighter control are really in favor of an all out ban on any citizen owning a firearm. And to add to a previous post, I don't believe this guy's story either, Bob. Now I must go outside and check to see if the world is still turning as it was prior to posting this.
