Gov. Crist Seeks Permanent Drilling Ban | TheLedger.com
Gov. Charlie Crist wants a permanent ban on near-shore oil drilling off the coast of Florida, not just a temporary fix.

We need an elected official that will stand up to the greed of the oil companies IMO...Gov Crist may be the one who can break the logjam of special interests and partisan "no"...my best sources tell me if he wins in November, he will caucus with the Democrats, so maybe he can spearhead a movement for the moderates in both parties...

Right here!
This should be an incredibly fun mid-term. I've never seen so many critical races with polls neck and neck. The battle for control of the senate looks to be determined by about three races. If Crist is considering caucusing with the democrats, that would make our race one of the critical senate races as well.

I'm not sure who I will vote for yet. I'd like to vote libertarian, if there's a respectible candidate. But if Rubio and Crist are neck and neck, I'll have to go with Rubio. Seeing the dems lose the senate would be priceless. :D

Any person who would vote for any one of the many legislators who voted to drill, cares more about their money than their children or grandchildren. There is no excuse for that greed. It is a shame there is not a seperate planet for the drill crowd to destroy, but they are wrecking our only planet. There is no issue bigger than this. debate it all you want. If you vote for drillers you are a greedy, selfish person!

I will respect your opinion if you tell me you have given up driving your car, using your heating/ac, removed all plastics from your home and I think you are going to have to give up your computer too. And, there are many other things that we use everyday that require petroleum. You see the petroleum you hate so much is vital to our everyday life, you can't have it both ways...oh wait you can, if you don't mind being a hypocrite. You want to blame someone for the gulf disaster, blame the enviromentalist, who pushed drilling way offshore and who closed down Anwar. Do you really want the job loss and the total crippling of the economy that will come from the total ban on drilling, not to mention being totally dependant on foreign oil? You are right about one thing there is no issue bigger than this!

If that oil keeps gushing the way it is, there won't be any economy to have a job in...

we need to hold corporations and elected officials accountable for the health, safety and welfare of the public; we need to care for the earth in an appropriate way; and it would help if we used our American vision and ingenuity to come up with a clean source of energy.

Icing on the cake would be ,if instead of finding someone to stereotype and blame, we would all work together for a better world.:bang:

I am all for finding alternative sources of energy, but you can't just stop drilling and exploration until it is invented and or discovered. Banning won't just hurt fishing and tourism (the ones most affected by the oil spill), it will touch every industry, eventually. :bang::bang:
