Too funny. A sense of humor does make life easier! :D

Okay, now I have a question. I have read who y'all don't like...who do you think is the most unbiased TV political personality?

Charlie Rose, maybe ... but I'm not sure I can stay up late enough every night. :D

I like the way Shep Smith adds some balance to most of the rest of his network ...

Of the big shows I probably tolerate Anderson Cooper the best, most of the time.

I consider myself pretty moderate but YMMV ...

Anderson Cooper seems to do a pretty good job delivering an even report but he's not main stream news, so I don't know. From the 5-8pm hour, I don't think there's a single even steven commentator out there. Even if they aren't outwardly showing bias, they show it in the news they report vs. what they don't.

Haven't really watched Anderson.

For the evening news, I like Brian Williams on NBC, but don't watch everyday. Seems I can get caught up with the news right here on sowal......y'all do a stellar job!

I guess everybody is going to have some sort of inherent bias or perspective. It's unavoidable. Plus the way the shows are presented has something to do with producers too, and in the case of Fox News the direction of the entire network. (Roger Ailes, journalist? please! at least the MSNBC prez has a typical TV news background, although they are increasingly the yin to Fox's yang).

Bottom line it's about flash and ratings, unless you're Charlie Rose in a darkened studio at 1 a.m.

I think CNN is trying to play to the middle in general, which is good. What's her name claims to have no bias and no bull but I find her simply annoying.

I miss Peter Jennings. :sosad: Brian Williams is pretty good, and I don't really have anything against Couric, though I don't watch network evening news at all.

I agree with you. Imagine that...;-).

I have to say that many of the TV personalities turn me off when they get all apoplectic in their delivery. Like...calm down dude!

You know? I sincerely miss Peter Jennings, too. He was good journalist, but when he was personal, his body language spoke volumes, which was annoying at best. Katie is very biased from clips of her going back to 2003/2004.

I think CNN is trying to be more middle, which is always a great thang.....all the debates they host on CNN and Fox are IRRITATING - all those anchors and employees have to be on stress tabs!!!!! :D Or, maybe they thrive in that envornment

I find the PBS News Hour gives the most objective accounting of the day's events.

I watch both NBC and ABC nightly shows sometimes if there is an event that I am curious to see how they are handling it...

Charlie Rose wins "hands down" as the one who digs deep into the issues. He is the main reason I got a DVR--I couldn't stay awake either, but love his show. He asks the questions I want to ask!:D And the DVR allows me to watch all the segments of several shows in a minimum amount of time.

I find both Rachel and Keith interesting because they are incredibly smart and have a way with words much like Bill Mahr does with humor...but, anyone watching must filter their comments through the bias they are not shy about admitting. It's not really news--but a rendering of the news with a dash, or more, of entertainment...with definite leanings to the liberal side.

I try to watch Fox News just to see what is being said there, but I find that their bias is too much for me most of the time...and the abrasive approach of many of the reporters/anchors is unappealing to me. I find Rush obnoxious and I agree with Meghan McCain about Ann Colter.

I, too, think Anderson Cooper does a professional job...and I love his "Keeping them Honest" segments. He and Shep Smith were particularly good during the coverage of Katrina--even Joe Scarborough did a credible job then, IMO.

It's too bad, really, that more of the public isn't better informed about news and news reporters.

I often think there needs to be a class to teach people about how to understand the news and news media...much like a class on how to build a budget and balance your checkbook! Necessary for survial in today's 24/7/365 news tsunami!

The sourcereally does matter--and almost every one, or at least every network/cable station, does have an agenda! It's all about ratings, ya know!
Thanks, Miss Kitty, for a great post.
