I think my plans for Memorial Day will include thinking of the many brave men and women who have given their lives fighting for our Country. Let's remember what this holiday is about. It may include getting off work, going to the beach, and grilling ribs, but there is something important at the heart of it.

True dat..we will be going to a parade on Monday to remember all those that fought and died for our country. I love this holiday weekend. It always brings back fond memories of camping, picnics and the Memorial Golf Tournament.

Atchison must have a really good PR / TDC director, because when I ask my family about the "haunted" part, they just ;-) I do think my Aunt's bathroom is haunted by a former prom queen living in her toilet....have you ever seen a toilet dressed up like a prom queen??? Don't know how my Uncle can "use it". A toilet wearing a Scarlett O'Hara ball gown gives me the spooks:rofl:

:rotfl: I've seen a haunted/possessed toilet a time or two.

Working on the new screen porch (actually keeping Kate out of Bdarg's hair while he works onthe porch!), working in the yard, going to a birthday party, long walks, beachin' it, grilling ribs, Sowalling.......

I wish you all a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. Truly, it is a time of remembrance for me of those who have served this country. Many did not return and many others returned broken in body and spirit. Also, I remember and honor the men and women who now serve and go in harms’ way in many dangerous places in this world.

I am just an ordinary American but from my heart, I would like to say to those who have served, well done and thanks for your service. For those who now serve, I pray for your safe return to loving families and a grateful country.

p.s. This porch needs to be complete by July 7th. I want to sit and drink a few cold ones with the dargs and I do not want the skeeters attacking me while I do it. It is hard to hold a beer and slap skeeters at the same time. OH, wait...maybe I will get to try one of the famous dargaritas? In that case, I will not have a free hand, so hurry up bdarg and get that porch done. :D

We'll be heading up to West Point this long weekend. They have many Memorial events there and in the area.
We have to go up Bear Mountain to get there, which imo, is one of the prettiest places to visit, and I would miss it sorely if I ever moved.

i saw on the travel channel that atchison kansas is the most haunted town in america - is that true ?

Well Audie....that's what they say. I actually live only a couple of blocks from the "Sally House" that they mention in that Travel Channel special. Our chamber of commerce has a big Haunted Trolley Tour that happens around Halloween. They begin selling tickets in June and often it is sold out way before Halloween. Brings in people from all over the country. Crazy huh?

 wish we were there. Seems like a month instead of a week, since we were there. Enjoy yourselves.
