I am constantly horrified by news reports of child brides being forced to get married by family members or religious leaders. The minimum age for marriage in 49 states is 18 years old (Nebraska is 19)............except with parental permission!

You can't drive until 16, vote until 18, drink until 21, or rent a car w/o excessive charges until 25......................but a girl can LEGALLY get married at the age of 12!!! Boys can get married at 14.

We need to remove the antiquated loopholes that you can get married at such a young age w/ parental permission, if you are pregnant, or if you have been married before (because nothing says maturity and sound judgment to me like your 2nd marriage before your 18th birthday).

I'm not saying that getting married at a young age is bad ............. just that if we don't think the bride and groom are old enough/responsible enough to drive themselves away from the church, maybe they shouldn't be allowed to get married!

Should we have a concrete age limit for marriage?

What is the youngest you think people should be allowed to marry?

30. And they can't have sex until they are 35.

Couples should be allowed to marry when they've demonstrated they know how to pick bugs out of each others hair, you know, like the monkeys do. :wave:

I like the idea of 30, but think you should be able to test drive the car before you buy it. ;-)

I'm all about kicking the tires, but there are too many awful drivers out there doing nothing but test-driving already. Most of them just end up leasing, thereby putting the vehicle on the "pre-owned" list forever.

How far shall I go with this analogy, anyway? Safety equipment? Speed versus power? Minivans versus sportscars?

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

You made my day!

As for safety equipment.......always wear a seatbelt! And wearing your seatbelt in a car w/ anti-lock brakes and airbags is even safer!

IF you're still test-driving!

I kind of have a soft spot for the old classics that may or may not have a seatbelt, no airbags, and just the basic brakes. An old Mustang, Land Rover, Bronco, or even a VW Thing.

I don't care if the paint is scratched or the upholstry is worn or if the roof leaks. Give me a solid engine that doesn't mind the mountain roads (or beaches!)

But, of course, I'm not leasing or test-driving that sort of beauty. He would be an investment...
