what they^^ said. start packing now, a bit each day.

i remember a move that was started and concluded in about four hours one time... i think there was some beer involved.[/QUOTE]

Something tells me that didn't have a happy ending. . . .:dunno:

Actually, that was my last move and it went very smoothly! And made me REALLY appreciate having good friends!!!:wave:;-)

Let me just say thanks to everyone who's posted. This has been EXTREMELY helpful!

I knew I was going to the right place!!!;-):love:

We used Border's boxes when we moved down here. You'd probably want bigger boxes for other things, but their boxes are a great size for books, CDs, and other items you don't want to pack too much of before you can't even lift the box.

I'm vowing to either invest in hiring a company or torching it all and starting over the next time we change locations!

Good luck with your move!

Use the move as a time to purge - if you haven't used it since your last move, haven't fixed it, can't wear it, or can't remember why you need it - YARD SALE!

Move your breakables/favorites yourself. Pretend that your movers will play soccer with any box and then pack your family vehicles accordingly.

Do not make any social plans for 48 hours before and after the move that do not involve cereal or pizza (this should be easy) eaten on paper plates.

LABEL, LABEL, LABEL, LABEL all the boxes!

Pack a suitcase just like you are going on vacation and remember to include the toiletries, changes of clothes, tools to assemble furniture, cleaning supplies, and first aid items you will need/want during the last and first days.

Assume it will rain, the movers will be late, something will break and cause a mess, and just accept it as part of the process and a justification for beer/wine being the first thing you put in the fridge!

I haven't seen anyone mention a safe. I keep all my valuables and can not lose papers in there. When I move, it's coming in the car with me.
Hopefully I can get it unbolted from the floor.

Just do like my neighbors and torch the place. It seemed to work for them.
