Kurt was also on target about the coming real estate boom. Apply the lessons you learned from south Walton--buy land. The closer to the water the better (but with a weather eye for potential erosion problems). There are rumors of various resort-type development projects being planned for the region. Some will not come true, but some will.
All it's going to take is one four-lane highway dropped into the area off of I-10 or completion of the proposed Gulf Coast Parkway for the boom to begin.
And don't let people scare you about the so-called "culture shock". As soon as the boom begins the local Piggly Wiggly will be replaced with an upscaled Publix, some chain restaurants will open and you'll think you're back in Denver.
