Kurt, I forgot to tell you that I saw Blueground Undergrass open for Sam Bush on Sat night. They were pretty good. I also enjoyed Ivan Neville's Dumstaphunk, the Greyhounds, FreeWorld, Carl Denson's Tiny Universe, and Drew Emmitt. You missed some good tunes.kurt said:Good show with Trey on Charlie Rose. Awesome performance on Austin City Limits. :dudeiswired:

katmoo said:Hey Landlocked...would that be Paul at Tree?
(i was at a private recording session of the first onstage appearance of his new band a few months ago at Tree, so maybe we know the same crowd. fyi, it was wild, Trey literally bawled through the entire set, this is a big transition for him.)
Don't believe the Windows platform is an afterthought and all that implies. My two sons have Windows , iPods and iTunes and it works beautifully - they love it. Try it.OhioBeachBum said:Musicmatch co-exists reasonably well with most stuff (factory installed on a Dell?). Suggestion - iTunes is an apple-centric ported to wintel platfrorm as an afterthought. Maybe go with Smilin' Joe's fav. I know Realplayer is robust, co-exists well with most stuff, and one of the two primary vid/audio players on most net sites (Windows Media Player is the other). If all you're looking for is a quick no groaning install and snatching some music, maybe go that way. D/L pricing and tune preview is same as iTunes. Let me know if you want a link to the RP site...
I said that Blueground U. was "pretty good." It was an okay show, kind of laid back compared to the other acts I mentioned, and I was feeling a little like Phunk. In a small venue, without other bands, I think they would have been great. I mention it to Kurt because they played here at Baytowne Wharf and I missed them.katmoo said:Yes, Ivan's band is good! Everyone should check them out, they're the new guard of the Nevilles. we opened for them last Thursday. I'm glad they rocked, because we actually had to cut short our week in SoWal last week to get back to ATL in order to do it. i was snivelly about that initially, but a night of dancing to N'awlins funk cured the blues pretty quick.
so you liked Blueground huh? i heard they were not sounding so good lately, glad to hear otherwise. fiddle player used to play with us.
Smiling JOe said:I guess I went to the show thinking that it would highlight both acts, and it highlighted only John Hiatt. I like the NMA and JH, individually. Also, I think the sound was aweful. Perhaps too much asphalt. They played in a big parking lot in front of a big hotel, and had a crappy sound tech to boot!
Mike Gordon, of Phish, and the well-known singer songwriter, Leo Koetke, have an album out, entitled Clone (?). It is a great combination featuring both artists' songs. It is one of my favorites at the moment. I guess I was hoping that the NMA and JH would be as great working together, but I missed the funkyness of the NMA. It was like any band could have been playing for John. Not all was lost at the venue because I saw so many great performances, including a small town, unknown artist who has a couple of CDs, which you can sample online at www.PatrickFitzsimons.com
I highly recommend purchasing a CD. He has something unlike most artists today, and seems like a really cool guy too. RiverOtter, for some reason I think you will really enjoy his music.
