The I.R.S. can pretty much take anything of value, including bank and investment accounts, homes, cars, boats, your first born, whatever they want. The courts will back them up completely.

No, even the IRS can't violate the 13th Amendment.

It's partisan politricks...

Tim Geithner - Sec of the Treasury and Obama appointee...not current on his taxes. Played the "I forgot" or "I thought I paid properly" cards.

Kathleen Sebelius - Health and Human Services Sec and Obama nominee...not current on taxes and quickly amended three years worth of returns to get current.

Ron Kirk, the former mayor of Dallas who would be the White House chief trade representative if confirmed, didn't pay taxes on some speaking fees he donated to his alma mater and he tried to write off the full $17,000 costs of his Dallas Mavericks season tickets. (from LA Times)

And others all from Obama's administration...
Tom Daschle, the first HHS nominee
Chief performance officer nominee Nancy Killefer
Labor Secretary Hilda Solis?s (husband)

I'd like to say that they are aiming at tax currency because of the above list; however, the bill is sponsored by a Republican and a Dem. Admittedly, the list of names above was (and is) an embarrassment to the current administration even though it was largely swept under the carpet.

Personally, I have no issues with it. If I have to pay, so should they...

Yep, all on one side.

Memo to media: tax payment issues are a bipartisan problem. | Media Matters for America

As usual the glass house doesn't seem to bother Republicans when they start hurling stones.

Dick Morris -- who has criticized Tim Geithner's failure to pay taxes -- had a $1.5 million tax lien filed against him by the IRS, and the state of Connecticut said he owed more than $450,000 in unpaid taxes and penalities.

I'm guessing the two publicity whores who spent tax dollars to type up this bill have, as usual, left out members of congress?
