Mr. and Mrs. Hawg are heading to Nawlin's for the Shugah Bowl and would like some ideas on your favorite places for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Drinks....

It's been a few years since we have been there and unfortunately, some of our fav's of the past have since closed. ie: Petunia's...:sosad:

So help us out, please!

Envy the location but I prefer Glendale this time of year. You aren't going to be there long so here are the places I'd hit. They are touristy but you're a tourist.

Sleep through breakfast or pick up a bloody mary then go to Cafe du Monde

Lunch - Central Grocery for street food, Galatoire's for two bottle lunch

Dinner - white tablecloth - Antoine's, favorite restaurant there - Cochon (casual). Be sure to order something with cracklins.

Do a search in the forums - we have had this discussion MANY a time and you can't ever cover it all so this topic remains relevant forever! lots of good places recommended by nola transplants and frequent visitors on SoWal.com.

can't think of the names of our favorite little holes. Adolfo's one little bistro we adore.

here is a recent thread with some good recs:

Go to the Coffee Pot for breakfast. I think it's on St. Anne's. I'd recommend the Eggs Sardu. For lunch, go to Central Grocery, get one large muffaletta and some beers then go over to Jackson park or somewhere around the riverfront to eat. Dinners...all over the place, but I'd strongly recommend a place called Mulate's.

Which hotel are you staying in? I wholeheartedly agree with Cochon, the place is great, and not only that it is a celebration of pigdom. Boudin, cracklins, sausage and other pork 9and non-pork) fare, not upscale but certainly not a dive. It is in the Warehouse district, a short cab ride from the French Quarter and Superdome. Get reservations, though.

In the meantime, get lost in this website devoted to New Orleans food.

Not interested in the touristy restaurants...plenty of them around here:lol:

Looking for local flavor off the beaten path...

we find new little holes every time we go - and they are always great!!! the last few visits we used iphone apps to find places nearby and ended up finding some GREAT little places last minute. you can almost never go wrong, touristy joint or not though we prefer off the beaten path too.
