Ok, my next roadtrip is planned for New Orleans the weekend of January 9th, 10th and 11th. We are flying in (commercial, not FFF) on Friday for a nice weekend. So far the only place I have planned to eat is Galatoire’s for sure.

Anyone been recently and can make good recommendations? We are staying in the French Quarters at The Omni Royal Orleans Hotel on St. Louis, mainly because of the location. I know the Rib Room used to be very good there, anyone been lately?

There are alot of good places, just out side the 1/4. Dragons, by the Riverwalk, can't remember the hotel it's by, but it's where poydras ends. Erbsaint, on St. Charles, abot 2 or 3 blks west of Poydras. Lucy's is a fun place to go, ssveral blks south of Erbsaint.
Gumbo Shop is good, Crescent City Brewhouse, on Decatur I like. Home brew on tap. Charter House is good, and the Carasel bar, in the hotel Montelone. You won't go hungry in the 1/4. And, don't forget to check out the free bead throwing, on Bourbon.
Tommy's is very good, just west of the 1/4. Take a cab. It's across from Emeril's.:D

Thanks cheeshead! I always do the Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar, love it!
Who throws the free bread?
That is the third time in 24 hours I've heard Tommy's, gonna try it.

I have also heard good things about Tommys as well.

Tom Fitzmorris is a guy who I believe knows what he is talking about. Read about him here. He also recommended

Tommys - http://www.tommysneworleans.com/,

Stella - http://www.restaurantstella.com/

Bacco in the W hotel

I think we will have no trouble finding a place to eat...

Do I look like I have trouble finding a place to eat? :D It's gonna be funn!

The January Gourmet magazine has a lot of good suggestions, all owned by Italians. Italian food in NOLA -- how good can it get?

Thanks, I will pick one up at Barnes & Noble tomorrow.

Bayona on Dauphine.

Bayona for sure. Chef Susan rocks!:clap:

Ok, if it gets both of y'alls votes it's got to be good.

Thanks everyone. I am waiting on Shelly to chime in with a grayt deal on some funn food!

Also, I ate some of the best French toast for breakfast at the Monteleone. It was to die for. Who knew something so simple could be so perfectly divine.

And I know this could be blasphemous but I've decided that the beignets at Cafe Beignet are better than the ones at Cafe du Monde. But of course, the ambiance cannot be matched with that of Cafe du Monde's. Especially at 2am! :D Tough call - - ambiance vs. quality.
