Take a ride on the trolley. Be sure to note Octavia Street right next to Henry Clay. In LaFayette Square you'll also want to notice the Sam Houston marker.

Street car ;-)

Also, if I had not had my 17 year old with me, I would've loved to have visited Hookah Cafe on Frenchman St. It sounded very interesting.

And I know this could be blasphemous but I've decided that the beignets at Cafe Beignet are better than the ones at Cafe du Monde. But of course, the ambiance cannot be matched with that of Cafe du Monde's. Especially at 2am! :D Tough call - - ambiance vs. quality.

agreed. cafe beignet is where i go in the mornings. it's quiet and one can read in there without being pushed out the door. cafe du monde can't be beat late nite though. if i'm leaving NOLA after a show, i go there for two orders of beignets and au lait, one for the ride to the state line, one for the next morning to continie the drive.

Also, I ate some of the best French toast for breakfast at the Monteleone. It was to die for. Who knew something so simple could be so perfectly divine.

Join us! :D There will be several SoWaller's there.

BB, the new issue of Southern Accents has a guide to NOLA in it -- where to dine, shop, etc.

I have that magazine and have already torn out the pages. Gourmet magazine for some reason is not on my shelf. :D

Forgot about a breakfast place. On Charter, sw corner, across fromm the Omni. If you have a sweet tooth, try the Praline French Toast. It's one sugar high for the day. And, the prices there are reasonable. Mary, our waitress, is really nice. Have fun.:D
