There is a father in son in Athens whose names are the same, Richard. They both go by "Dick." (I will refrain from using last names). I alway called the father Dick, and one day when I was referring to the son, I called him "Little Dick." His father was a nice man, but Little Dick is a big one. Maybe he has a compex regarding his name.

Our neighbor at the lake is named Richard Dick so we call him "Double Dick".

...and he's a highschool principal. Don't you know he catches all kinds of grief for that name?

...and with a name like that he became a principal instead of a porn star?:dunno:

Yes, Happy played at UGA from 1966-1968, and he was a linebacker. Do you know Happy?

Dr. Dong's first name is ... not Long Duck, it is Jing. He's an eye doc.

Just of him. My Daddy was a huge fan! We use to always listen to the games when together when I was growing up. He used to get a big o;' grin on his face everytime Happy was on the field. (Miss u Daddy!) Seeing his name just brought a smile to my face. Makes me think of my sweet Daddy and that time we spent together.

My sister-in-law used to work with the Blue Laser group in Athens, Dr. Dong's domain.

Long Duck as I recall was in the movie, "Sixteen Candles"?:dunno:

In Atlanta (DeKalb County, actually), the former Chief of Police was Dick Hand ... and, no, he didn't bother going by Richard. His career ended with an indictment and prosecution. Guess he was more of a Dick Head than Dick Hand.

There are also two doctors in Atlanta (I'm not making this up, I swear) named:

Dr. Horney (Gynecologist!) and ...

Dr. Bottoms (Proctologist!).

A also worked with a fellow sportswriter years ago in South Florida whose name was Flick Doyle. Because the preferred type font at the time for The Palm Beach Post was very boxy and our names in by-lines were in all-caps, the name "Flick" often caused some double-takes. Look below ...

By FLICK DOYLE
Post Sportswriter

After several calls in a short period of time, Flick ended up having to go by his birthname vs. his nickname. Good thing his last name wasn't "Yew". What the hell's a "flick" anyway?

It's true, it's true and can happen to you!

He'd been married to just about every single female in our comapny. We worked for a very large company too. His ex-wives didn't speak to highly of D.W. It wasn't unusual to be in a meeting with 3 or 4 of his ex-wives. Those were usually pretty non-productive meetings for those of us that had not been married, engaged, or otherwise er....entangled with him.

He was a living legend!!!!!!! Not necessarily a good thing.:nono1::laughing1

Athens is my hometown. Lived there until I was 19. My in-laws live in Asheville and my sister-in-law and brother-in-law live over in Weaverville. Seems like we are always just around the corner from one another. Seven degrees of separation is always intriguing to me.;-)
