Yeah, us southerners can handle hurricanes, tornados and the like, but when the ground starts shaking, that's another situation. No thanks.

I spent a couple years living in NW Tennessee not too far from the New Madrid fault area. We had a couple little tremblers while I was there, even had an earthquake rider on our insurance policy.

When The Big One hits that part of the Mississippi River Valley again, it's going to make the ones they get in California look like nothing. The ones that area got in 1811-12 not only made the Mississippi River flow backwards for a time, but changed the course of the river for good. Another one like that, and you could see both Memphis and St. Louis largely under water.

Funny thing about earthquakes.. the only 2 I've lived been were right here in the Nooga and the last one was 2 years ago (4.5 I think) Lasted for 45 seconds and woke both of us up. Erie feeling that was
I was in Atlanta when that one hit, and it woke me too. I thought a excavator was going to rip down the house any minute.

Welcome Back! :D

Thanks, That was a way bigger than the one several years ago that didn't wake me up. However my sister was awakened when a wave went across her waterbed .

The Peaceful Piney Woods.
A friend of mine is Colombian, and her childhood memories are straight out of your worst nightmare. Lived on a banana plantation, witnessed a controlled massacre of over 20 employees by guerrillas, ran for her life with nothing more than she was wearing, and finished growing up on the streets of Medellin. We sponser a child from Medellin. The conditions are deplorable. Nothing like complete lawlessness, raging violence and utter proverty to teach us how spoiled we really are. :sosad:
