I no longer stay in Dune Allen
I seem to remember France aiding the US colonists back in the 1700's during the American Revolution. Was that one of the many incorrect things we were taught in school? :dunno:
They gave us armaments, officers, mercs, money, and most importantly, puff pastry according to my 5th grade social studies book.

Sounds familiar to what we did in WWII or am I wrong? Keeping in mind that the technology in the 1940's made it a little easier for us to go battle in France.

Yes they did. It partly explains why it took us so long to defeat the British.

If you Google "French Military Defeats" (not victories as I earlier wrote), you wil find an interesting history of wars fought by the French. Here is what the website says about the American Revolution:

American Revolution
- In a move that will become quite familiar to future Americans, France claims a win even though the English colonists saw far more action. This is later known as "de Gaulle Syndrome", and leads to the Second Rule of French Warfare; "France only wins when America does most of the fighting."

And to see what the French are up these days, read the following article:

It's an old joke

And I would bet most of those who know 2 or more, include english as one.

I think we should all know at least two languages and basic algebra.

There's an old joke about language fluency: What do you call someone who speaks two languages? Bilingual. What do you call someone who speaks three languages? Trilingual. And what do you call someone who speaks one language? An American.

Obama thinks we?d be better off if that joke weren't funny anymore. I think he?s right.

Those of you who are Franco-phobics may want to know that French is the official language for 29 countries; 12 dependent entities (including Louisiana), and 7 countries where French is not the official language but is commonly used.

Having taught French for several years, I found that my students had a better grasp of the English language after a few years of foreign language study.
