I don't even know what a Mandarin tutor is but then I am from South Georgia. Oh, a friend just said to look in the produce section at Publix.

Yes, high standards are always the death knell of education! :roll:

I am much more concerned that we graduate people from 3rd GRADE who can't do those things!

That's exactly the problem: the NCLBA has nothing to do with standards. It creates an aura of "accountability" through mountains of paperwork and useless standards teachers - excuse me - educators must follow. You can graph the federal government's "investment" in education against SAT scores and see the sorry result.
