I have no reason to dislike anyone here, but I see obvious dislike on the board among some of the people......and, they do know who they are.

It's a great place, indeed. Both physically as well as virtually. Those who kick each other around don't seem to be friends, however....or even respectful of another's opinion; and, you are right in that it's the poster's style. Often times the posts are hurtful and certainly there is a consciousness to this? I'm sure you've seen those posts. Maybe it will improve...... :D

yes, it is all of us. and while I have felt the way you have at times, I have also learned this: we are all just people. sometimes we are not perfect, sometimes we are in a bad mood. sometimes we are rubbed the wrong way, and respond in a way that we normally would not (tell me who hasn't). we live and we learn. we learn to accept others just the way they are, and to move on when the discussion doesn't do anything for us. I have learned so much from so many around here, whether I identify with their views or not, whether I like their style or not - I am truly grateful to all for being exactly who they are.

I guess that is my point. sometimes we are not perfect, sometimes we are in a bad mood. sometimes we are rubbed the wrong way, and respond in a way that we normally would not. we live and we learn. we learn to accept others just the way they are, and to move on when the discussion doesn't do anything for us. Well, they can dislike one another if they want. I don't dislike anyone here.....I mean, how can you dislike someone you don't even know? I think you are accepting of posters here. I do see where many others are not accepting and do respond in a hateful manner. Blatant hatefulness is a conscious, concerted effort, which speaks mountains. It's unfortunate, but it's among us and I wish them well.

Lynnie - you are a kind and sensitive person. I hope you will stick to your standards while also respecting that everyone is unique in how they express themselves. People notice your positive attitude almost always present in your posts, and hopefully it will rub off on us! thanks for being who you are.

It could be that some in the media are misstating the point Sarah Palin was making.

Althouse: Did Sarah Palin say Obama's "death panel" might kill her baby?

Maybe it's all in how you view the author, not so much the words. There is a link to Ms. Palin's entire entry in the article. I don't find it incoherent or even difficult to interpret. It certainly isn't fear-mongering.

Sarah Palin is a very literal person, therefore her words are to be taken literally. One must not confuse the word literal with literate in her case.

I do respect peoples' opinions and beliefs, whether I garner those beliefs or not. And, everyone is free to express themselves however they choose........if it means getting personal and ugly on another person, that's their choice. Just not how I choose to expend my energy.....and, I don't understand people being quite that ugly to one another. I accept it. At times it is truly sad.... and at times, I find it comical from the perspective that it is so obvious and over the top, can it really be that person's feeling? Would these people relate to one another in person in this manner?

I doubt I will rub off on anyone. :D Anyway, you're rarely on and I've enjoyed chatting with you this morning! ;-)

that is the big question we all eventually learn to ask ourselves. you have hit the proverbial nail!

personal attacks though are never okay. these happen occasionally and they are handled by SoWal moderators (behind the scenes). and on very rare occasion, a poster is banned from the board. other than that, people express themselves in their own unique ways, as they should. it would be extremely uninteresting otherwise.
